Prepare the wall for paneling. Clean the wall thoroughly ensuring that no bits of debris or cobwebs are present. If you used a cleaner or water, give the wall time to dry so that is no excess moisture behind the paneling.
Find the wall studs. A stud finder helps you locate the studs in the wall. The paneling is attached to these studs. Mark the studs’ location with a pencil.
Measure the amount of needed paneling. Paneling usually comes in sheets 4 feet wide and 8 feet tall. Most ceilings are either 9 or 12 feet tall, which means making some cuts to fit everything. Measure the ceiling’s height and the walls’ width. Use these figures to calculate how many panels you need and what cuts are needed.
Cut the panels to fit. Use a circular saw and gently feed the paneling through it. Do not create a jagged edge. If you notice any snags on the edges, remove them with a harsh-grade sandpaper.
Attach the paneling to the wall. Use a nail gun with nails that are color matched to your paneling. Place the panel against the wall and insert nails into the studs at a distance of every 8 to 12 inches. Only nail the paneling into the studs. Work until all the panels have been attached.
