How to Curtain a Room With Multiple Windows

When you have several windows in a room this can present a decorating challenge, particularly when they are grouped closely together, or if several of the windows are quite large. Choosing the right fabric for your curtains is essential, since your color choices can either complement or overwhelm the space. Curtains are a great element that can tie a whole theme together, but they must be chosen carefully.

Instructions

Create a theme in the room with similar fabrics, patterns or colors. You can create a cohesive design in a room with window treatments. Choose curtain panels that are the same for each room. If you don't want them all to look the same, find a theme with either a color group or the type of fabric used.

Hang decorative curtain rods. Decorative rods will help dress up each window and make it look more formal. Use the same kind of rod for each window in the room.

Create several "windows." If you have a bay window area that is made up of several windows all at the same angle, instead of running one long curtain rod over all of the windows, give each window it's own rod. This will create visual separation and while it does take more curtain panels to accomplish this, the finished effect is quite dramatic.

Cover joined windows. Windows that meet in a corner offer a difficult decorating dilemma. Solve this problem by purchasing a special curved rod and choose pinch pleated drapes to hang on this rod. The drapes can then be pulled aside like a theater curtain.
