How to Hang Bison Hides on the Wall

A bison hide is an entire skin from a bison, which may also be called a buffalo. The hairs on a bison hide range from a pale red to a dark brown; the hide is an excellent complement to a room where a natural or a rustic look is in order. Use a buffalo hide to add texture as well as visual warmth to your home, hanging it on the wall, allowing viewers to see the entire hide at once. Fortunately, bison hides are very sturdy and can be hung using very simple tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Conclude how you want your bison hide hung — vertically, horizontally or even at an angle along a slanted wall, like a stairway.

    • 2

Tack the bison hide loosely to the wall using a hammer and a few nails. Depending on where you want it hung, you may need a ladder. The tacking nails should thoroughly stretch the hide out across the wall.

    • 3

Step back to look at where the hide is positioned and make adjustments, if necessary.

    • 4

Nail the bison hide to the wall, using a hammer and nails. Space the nails around the border of the hide so none of the hide sags away from the wall. Pound the nails flush with the hide and wall. If you wish, you may instead use a staple gun.
