How to Hang Panel Curtains to Divide a Room Without Making Holes

If you have two children sharing a room, or if you wish to divide one room into public and private areas, you can use panel curtains strung from wall to wall to split the space. The curtains cover up messy areas, and they are a non-permanent solution that can be taken down when you choose. However, if you are living in a place that does not allow drilling into the walls, try using industrial-strength adhesive hooks to hold up your curtains. Choose adhesive hooks that can hold at least 5 pounds to withstand the strain of the curtains.

Instructions

    • 1

Mark the points on the wall where you want the cord to be anchored.

    • 2

Remove the plastic backing from the adhesive hooks and stick them to the spots you marked.

    • 3

Measure the distance from one hook to the other using a measuring tape, and add 1 foot to this measurement.

    • 4

Use scissors to cut a length of stiff 1/8-inch cord that matches the measurement you calculated in step 3.

    • 5

Attach one end of the cord to one hook using a bowline knot.

    • 6

Push the other end of the cord through the channel at the top of the panel curtains.

    • 7

Attach the other end of the cord to the other hook using a bowline knot. A bowline knot is suitable for this process, because it allows you to draw the cord taut, pulling the curtains up straight.

    • 8

Snip off any remaining cord with your scissors.
