How to Frame a Beveled Mirror on a Tiled Wall

A beveled mirror is a charming addition to your home, and when mounted against a tiled wall, it adds space and depth to the room where it is installed. If you think your beveled mirror is too plain, however, you may wish to frame it. A beveled mirror is one where the edges are slightly slanted, and though this can make conventional framing difficult, you can accomplish it with the right tools and materials.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure each edge of the mirror that you want trimmed.

    • 2

Cut strips of rigid foam board that match the measurements you found in step 1 and about 1 inch wide using a utility knife. Use a foam board that is about as thick as the mirror. In many cases, 1/4-inch foam board is appropriate.

    • 3

Apply a thin layer of construction adhesive to one side of the strips and press the strips to the tile, lining them up so that they sit snugly against the mirror’s edges. These will act as your mounting edges.

    • 4

Allow the construction adhesive to cure for 24 hours.

    • 5

Measure the width of your wood trim and multiply it by 2.

    • 6

Add the measurement you found in step 5 to the measurements you found in step 1.

    • 7

Cut strips of wood trim that match the measurements you found in step 6 using a handsaw.

    • 8

Bevel the ends of each strip of wood trim to 45 degrees. When you are done, you have pieces that fit together like a picture frame.

    • 9

Apply a thin layer of construction adhesive to the foam strips that border the mirror.

    • 10

Press the wood trim strips to the corresponding foam strips, holding them in place for a moment as the glue grips. While the wood trim is sitting on top of the foam strips, they border the mirror neatly, creating a frame that separates the mirror from the tile wall around them.
