How to Install a Stainless Steel Angle Around a Backsplash

Stainless steel edging is a good way to trim out a backsplash if the appliances used in the kitchen are also stainless steel. Edging can be installed during the construction of the tile or stone backsplash. This type of edging product often presses into the mortar. Other edging profiles are designed as retrofits, often to cover chipped tile edges. Installing the retrofit-style product is a quick and inexpensive upgrade.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length of the backsplash area you wish to cover with the edging. Mark and cut the stainless steel edging, using the hacksaw and saw box.

    • 2

Apply a bead of silicone adhesive to the underside of the stainless steel. Line up the edging and press it into place. Wipe off excess adhesive with rags.

    • 3

Miter the corners on sections where the tile has exposed outside corners. File the edging with a metal file so the corners fit snug with no gap. Cut and fit your mitered corners before cutting your finished length, as the length may change during filing.
