How to Hang Bud Vases With Wire & Eye Hooks

If you have a couple of glass bud vases to hang outdoors, why not add some color and professionalization to your living space by hanging them indoors using eye hooks. Bud vases are sold in several different designs and although some are made of glass, many are made from clay and metal. These vases can be strung from your ceiling as showpieces or as an accent to any room.

Instructions

  1. Bud Vase With Handle

    • 1

Fill your bud vase with water and plant food, then insert the flower.

    • 2

Use a joist/stud detector to locate the joist or beam in your ceiling. Use the detector in the general areas where you want to hang the vase.

    • 3

Turn on your electric drill and drill a hole into the joist. The drill bit should be a bit smaller than the screw on the eye hook. Insert the screw end of the eye hook into the drilled hole, and twist it until it is stiff.

    • 4

Wrap the end of your wire around your finger once, and twist off the end to close in a loop shape.

    • 5

Wrap the other end of the wire around the handle on the hanging bud vase and close off the knot.

    • 6

Climb up the ladder and hook the loop around the eye hook.

    Bud Vase Without a Handle

    • 7

Drill a small hole on each side of your vase toward the top using a diamond drill bit. Drill slowly.

    • 8

Cut a piece of wire to use as the hanging handle. For a low hanging vase, cut a 2-feet piece of wire.

    • 9

Thread the wire through one of the holes and tie off a knot. Repeat this step for the other hole.

    • 10

Hang the wire handle over the eye hook.
