How to Hang a Mirror Using a Door Knob as a Hanger

Mirrors are utilitarian things. You rarely think about them as long as they're in place when they're needed. Turn a plain everyday mirror into feminine room decor by changing it into a piece of usable art. Hang the mirror on a wide satin ribbon and anchor the piece on an antique or faux antique doorknob. Use this design with a small mirror near the front door or with a full-length version in your bedroom or bath area.

Instructions

    • 1

Drill holes in the wall about one foot above head height to match the holes in the doorknob base. Insert toggles into the drywall and attach the screws according to the directions on the toggle packaging. Screw the doorknob onto the wall.

    • 2

Attach a two-foot length of florist wire to the hanger attachments on the back of a decorative mirror. Twist the ends of the wire tightly to secure it to the back of the mirror.

    • 3

Cut a two-foot piece of wide satin ribbon that matches your room decor. Tie each end of the ribbon to the florist wire near the attachment points.

    • 4

Hang the mirror on the knob by looping the florist wire over the knob. Loop the ribbon over the knob and arrange it to cover the wire.

    • 5

Cut a length of ribbon and make a decorative bow. Tie the bow to the top of the doorknob for a decorative accent.
