Assemble a collection of different-colored and textured fabrics and swatches. Look for fabric that features intricate patterns in a variety of styles and colors, as variety and color are two of the keys to gypsy style.
Wrap the fabric around empty picture frames. Use old frames that you would otherwise throw out as they have long since lost their glass and backing. Use one type of fabric per side or use smaller bits of fabric to make a frame that contains different kinds of fabric. Secure the fabric with hot glue and allow the entire frame to dry for about 10 minutes.
Use your new wall decor as desired. Frame it around a peephole on your front door or as a frame for a light switch, or you can paint a design on a bare wall and mount the frame to showcase the design. You can also use your gypsy wall decor to frame photos or small prints attached to the wall with tape or glue.
Place an old couch pillow or cushion outside in the sun to air it out for at least two hours.
Cover the cushion/pillow in colorful fabric that features intricate designs and patterns. Use the same type of fabric for the entire pillow, use a different fabric piece for each side of the pillow or cut up several pieces of fabric and sew them together to make a fabric cover.
Place your fabric pieces together so they are facing each other and the inside of each piece is facing outward. You may have to cut the fabric first, depending on the size and shape of the cushion or pillow you are covering. Use a basic blanket stitch to sew the cover together except for one side so you can easily flip the cover inside out and stick the pillow or cushion inside. Sew the opening closed with a blanket or other basic stitch. Don't worry if the sewing is a bit irregular as it will only add to the "gypsy look" you are going for.
