Paint the walls in a teenager’s bedroom with black-and-white colored patterns, including checkered squares, polka dots or stripes. You can also switch between black and white on alternating walls or hang black-and-white floral wallpaper. Stencil black images onto the white wall’s borders, such as hearts, swirls and flowers.
Plan an outing with the teenage girl, giving her the opportunity to photograph her friends or nearby natural surroundings in black and white. Mount the photos in alternating black-and-white frames before hanging them on the wall. She can also pick out black and white photos from various magazines or books, as well as 8X10 black and white glossy photos of her favorite band, actor, actress or athlete.
For a shabby chic look, fill the room with rustic white wooden furnishings, including hope chests, bookshelves, nightstands and dressers. Add antique black crystal knobs and handles to all the pieces of furniture. If room permits, add a sitting area complete with white wicker chairs outfitted with black-and-white seating cushions.
Add a black throw blanket over a white comforter. Scatter a combination of black-and-white pillows, varying in size, on the bed, as well. For a decorative touch, tie black velvet ribbons around the white pillows. Use the same ribbon to tie back a set of white drapes in the room.
