Displaying the Fronts of Vinyl Records as Artwork

Get your old record albums out of that dusty box in the attic and show them off. Vintage records can liven up a game room or music room, or look really cool in a den. Records are still listened to, sought after and collected even though digital music is quickly becoming the norm. Display some of your favorite record albums and enjoy the memories that come with them.
  1. Frames

    • Purchase special frames to place your albums in. These look like regular picture frames, but they are the exact size as a record album. Frame the albums carefully and hang them as you would any picture. Some frames can even accommodate double album sets. The frames are easy to remove the records from, so change your albums out if you get bored. Buy album frames at hobby shops.

    Shelves

    • Put up some shelving units that can attach to the wall or hang on the wall to hold the albums. Line the albums up next to each other on the shelves, leaning them against the wall. This is a simple way to display albums that can also allow you to switch out your albums, of if you get tired of using the shelf for records, you can easily use it for something else. If you're not very handy, you can have shelves custom made and installed that are the exact size and width you need for your collection. For a really interesting display, have one shelf that goes around the entire border of the wall.

    Magazine Rack

    • A magazine rack that mounts on the wall can be the perfect place to slide a few record albums. Generally these racks are made of metal and have several slots that lean out. Place one record album in each slot, with the cover facing downward so it can be seen through the bottom of the slot. This is a neat way to display your records and the magazine racks aren't costly.

    Thumbtacks

    • If you just want to display the albums themselves without the sleeves, a low maintenance and simple way to do it is to press a clear push pin or thumbtack into the hole in the middle of the record and place it on the wall. A push pin will easily hold a record onto the wall and this can make a fabulous looking display and look very artistic in your home. Hang up a lot of records this way for an eye-catching way to show off your album collections. Frame the sleeves or put them away.
