For a traditional yet attention grabbing look, place the bed in the middle of the accent wall. When you place the bed in the middle, the wall itself acts as a frame for the bed, highlighting this piece of furniture and showing off the decorative detail of the wall. This placement is ideal for an accent wall that features a uniform look; a wall painted a different color than the rest of the room or a wall covered with paper that differs from the rest of the room. Because the detail of the wall can be seen around the bed, placing the bed in the center of the wall will not conflict with the decorative detail.
Set the bed off to one side of an accent wall. In this arrangement, the bed is set either to the right or left of the wall. This placement is ideal for an accent wall that features a single bold image that you don't want to detract from. For example, if there is a single image of a large flower in the center or on one side of the wall, place the bed so that it is just to the side of the decorative accent. Because the bed is placed in a nontraditional location, the eye will be drawn to it, allowing it to be a focal point in the room. Because the decorative accent isn't concealed by the bed, it too will be a focal point.
Placing the head of the bed against a wall is a traditional placement because it allows the body of the bed to be seen easily, making the bed look inviting. For this placement, simply decide where you want the piece of furniture to sit on the accent wall and push the head of the bed up against the wall.
Instead of placing the bed head first, place it side first on the accent wall. For this arrangement, choose where you want the bed to sit on the wall and simply push one of the sides of the bed against the wall. Placing the bed on its side gives the piece of furniture the look of a daybed or a sofa. Before placing the bed in this position, however, make sure that it will fit sideways against the wall.
