Displaying Trophies at Home

Are you trying to decide what to do with your tennis award, your first-place bake-off ribbon or your child's spelling-bee plaque? Pull your trophies out from under your bed and blow off the dust. A trophy display is a way to show off your family's accomplishments with visitors to your home. Get creative -- you can put them on the mantle above your fireplace, build shelves in your living room or buy a new trophy case.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a room where you'd like to show off your awards. For many people, the living room is a prime spot for displaying trophies, but you could also opt to have your special souvenirs in a hall or in your finished basement. Perhaps your child would like his special mementos on a shelf in his room.

    • 2

Decide whether you'd rather get a shelf -- or shelves -- or a trophy case for your display. This might depend on the number and size of the awards you want to show off. Some cases even come with built-in lighting.

    • 3

Choose which awards will go on your shelf or display case; you'll have to measure the trophies' height to ensure they'll fit inside the display case.

    • 4

Settle on an arrangement. Try placing your favorite, most meaningful trophies at the center of the display, or place the largest trophy in the middle of the others. Another idea is to arrange the awards by sport or by discipline.

    • 5

Hang items such as blue ribbons and plaques on the wall behind your trophies, if using a shelf. You could also arrange ribbons around the trophies inside the case.
