Instructions

Hang something lovely from your door handle. This can be an antique knob tassel, a small plaque with a cheeky saying, a Christmas tree ornament, a beaded necklace or rosary, small cone baskets or a small antique toy hanging from a silk ribbon.

Paint the door knob or handle. This is relatively easy if the knob is a wooden one. Paint hearts, flip flops or candy against a neon background color for a child's room. Or, paint small flowers, vines or geometric shapes for other rooms. If you have a metal door handle, sand it with a fine-grit sandpaper and spray paint it the desired background color. When it has dried, you can go back with a paintbrush and fill in the details.

Create a fabric "halo" for your door knob or door handle. This can be any fabric craft with a center hole large enough to slip the handle through. Cut small intersecting slits in the middle of a small lace doily, or several doilies, to create a small hole in the center and slip them over a narrow door handle. For a round door knob, sew six to eight small fabric "petals" or circles onto an elastic ponytail band and slip it over the door knob for a touch of whimsy.
