How to Decorate With White Pine Sideboards

Select one or two colors around which to build your dining room theme. Choose light colors such as pale yellow and sky blue, mint green and petal pink or ivory and lavender for a country look. Choose a less-is-more approach when using intense colors, however, to avoid overpowering the light shade of the wood.

Choose a centerpiece that you can leave on your table on a daily basis. Floral centerpieces work well with the natural look of white pine. Choose intense shades of flowers that reinforce your color scheme for a pop of color in the midst of the room. You can also arrange several colorful candles in a bowl filled with sand. Incorporating natural items such as sand, pine cones, seashells and flowers creates a unifying theme of the outdoors that enhances pine pieces.

Choose sizable works of art to hang over the sideboards. Select pieces that complement one another and which repeat the colors used to decorate the room. Pieces that mimic that materials used for your centerpiece are excellent choices. A painting of a field of poppies, a beach scene dotted with seashells or snow-capped mountains surrounded by pine trees are all options.

Coordinate your placemats, napkin rings and napkins with the decor in the room. Opt for cloth napkins to create a classy look. Select napkin rings made from similar material to the knobs and handles on your sideboards.
