Hiding Wires Around a Door

Whether it’s for a surround sound speaker system that spans the room or for an item that needs electricity, such as a lamp, wires running along the wall are an eyesore. Instead of leaving them out in the open, use the door frame as a space to hide them from view. Continue the hiding process by routing the wires behind the baseboards or molding in the room as well.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a small crowbar into the top section of the trim around the door jamb. Hammer gently to ensure it fits between the wall and the wood. Pry the trim off carefully. Repeat this process with the two side pieces on either side of the door.

    • 2

Route your wire so it follows the path between the framing and the door jamb, starting from the ground, up the side, across the top and down the other side. Hold in place with wire tacks at a rate of every foot.

    • 3

Reattach the door jamb framing, nailing it back in place, avoiding the sections where the wire runs.
