Wrap lengths of fabric around the pipes to cover their unappealing look. Choose a type and style of fabric that coordinates with the rest of the room to blend the pipes into the space. If you need to access the pipes, you can just remove the fabric around them.
Create a faux fabric ceiling or wall to conceal the pipes. Determine how much fabric you need by measuring the area where you want to hang the fabric -- over the entire ceiling or just over the area that contains the pipes, for example. Use nails, pushpins or self-adhesive hooks to hang the fabric from the ceiling and over the pipes.
Conceal the pipes with a folding screen if the pipes are against a wall. If you need to reach the pipes, simply remove the screen.
Create extra storage space while covering the pipes with a bookcase. Choose a floor-to-ceiling bookcase in a finish that coordinates with the rest of the space. Set the bookcase up in front of the wall that contains the pipes. In order to allow access to the pipes, place the bookcase about 3 feet in front of them and leave a space on the side to allow you to go behind the bookcase.
