How to Hang a Guitar on the Ceiling

You could hang a guitar from a ceiling as a decorative touch. For convenience, use special hangers that are designed to attach to the bottom fasteners of a guitar's shoulder strap. Using the hangers will allow you to hang the guitar from any area in the room, including the ceiling. It's important to use fasteners that will keep the guitar and hangers in place once they are installed. Using toggle bolts with a weight rating of over 30 pounds will ensure that the guitar and hangers will not pull from the ceiling.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the guitar, with the hangers attached, to the ceiling to get a visual of how it will look hanging. Mark the ceiling where the hangers' pre-drilled slots land with a pencil to indicate where you will drill holes.

    • 2

Attach a 1/2-inch auger bit to the drill. Locate the marks you made and drill through the ceiling material. Stop drilling once the bit punches through the backside of the ceiling.

    • 3

Insert the toggle bolt into the hollow ceiling by squeezing the toggle clips together and sliding them through the ceiling material until they open on the opposite side. Remove the hangers from the guitar and place them on the ceiling, aligning the pre-drilled slots with the center of the toggle.

    • 4

Thread the bolts through the hangers and into the toggles. Tighten the bolt fasteners using a Phillips screw driver.

    • 5

Hang the guitar from the brackets.
