Instructions

Construct a bed frame from fence posts and slats. Create a base for your box spring or mattress by screwing 2-by-4s into the shape of a rectangle. Screw slats every 4-inches across the top of the base to support the box spring and mattress. Screw fence posts onto each corner. Attach fence slats along the top and bottom of the frame with screws, creating a head and foot board.

Transform old wood pallets into a rustic bed frame. Gather old wooden pallets; a single pallet will likely be large enough for a twin-sized bed, while two to four pallets may be needed for a full- to king-size bed. Measure the length and width of your bed and the length and width of the pallets to determine how many you will need. If you are using more than one palette, use 2-by-4s and screws to attach them to one another.

Build a rustic bed frame out of logs. Create a base for the bed by screwing 2-by-4s together into a rectangular shape to fit the size of your box spring. Screw slats every 4-inches across the top of the base to provide a firm surface for the mattress and box spring to sit on. Cut four natural wood logs and screw them into the corners of the base, creating both decorative and supportive posts for the bed frame.
