Instructions

    • 1

      Measure the bed frame width.

    • 2

Cut the plywood length to match the width of the bed frame. Cut the width of the plywood 2 feet wide.

    • 3

Cut the upholstery foam to match the size of the plywood and glue the foam to the plywood.

    • 4

Cut the fabric 3 inches longer and 2 inches wider than the plywood.

    • 5

Lay the fabric on the floor and place the piece of plywood with the foam side down onto the fabric. Center the plywood on the fabric.

    • 6

Wrap the end of the fabric over the edges of the plywood, keeping the fabric tight to avoid sagging. Staple the fabric to the plywood along the fabric edges.

    • 7

Cut the 2-by-4 board in half.

    • 8

Lay the 2-by-4 boards on the back of the headboard flush with the side edges of the plywood. Adjust the boards to so the bottom edge of the headboard will match the top edge of the mattress.

    • 9

Secure the 2-by-4 boards to the back of the headboard with the wood screws.

    • 10

Line up the 2-by-4 boards with the back of the bed frame, so the bottom edge of the headboard is at the same height as the top edge of the mattress.

    • 11

Drill 1/4-inch holes in the 2-by-4 boards aligned with the mounting holes on the frame.

    • 12

Mount the headboard to the bed frame using the carriage bolts by inserting the bolts through the 2-by-4 boards and bed frame, securing the bolts with the four lock washers and nuts.
