Decorating With White Enamelware

Give your plain white enamelware a second life as decorative accents in your home. Enamelware adds a simple, utilitarian touch to a room. Unadorned with bright colors or patterns, white enamelware can be appreciated for the line of each piece. Pull out those old enamelware pieces from the cabinets and put them on display in your home to add a country casual ambiance.
  1. Pitchers

    • Incorporate enamel pitchers into a casual country decorating theme. Use white enamelware pitchers to hold bouquets of flowers in the middle of a breakfast table. The white of the pitcher will make the bright colors of the blossoms stand out. Store large cooking and serving spoons in a white enamelware pitcher on the counter in your kitchen to keep the items within reach. This should be done in a kitchen with other white accent pieces so the pitcher blends into the theme instead of standing out.

    Collections

    • If you collect enamelware, display it in a china cabinet or hutch. Check the enamelware for chips, and place the piece so the chip is facing the back of the display cabinet. Set up the display in a casual dining or living room. The large expanse of white pieces on a wall will reflect light in the room, making the space seem larger.

    Kitchen Ceilings

    • The space between the top of cabinets and the ceiling in a kitchen does not have to be empty. Arrange enamelware plates with plate display hooks along the walls in this gap. The plates will fill in the space and add an interesting touch to the room. Line the entire kitchen just below the ceiling with a row of white enamelware plates, and you will have a three-dimensional version of a wallpaper border. Since the plates are white, they will not detract from the rest of the decor in the room.

    Hanging Accents

    • Hang enamelware pieces with handles from hooks in the ceiling or under cabinets. This gives a flash of white in a dark-colored kitchen to brighten the space. In a white kitchen, using a line of enamelware on hooks adds texture to the room. Look for cup holder hooks for hanging mugs under cabinets. Hang larger pieces like pitchers or pots from a pot rack suspended from the ceiling.
