How to Keep a Tablecloth on Card Tables

Whether you need an instant table for a poker game or a kiddie table for a holiday gathering, a card table can fulfill your needs. One problem that many people experience with their card table is putting a tablecloth on it and making it stay put. Because most card tables are smooth, some tablecloths slide to one side or even slide right off the table when the tablecloth is bumped or pulled slightly.

Things You'll Need

  • Foam, 1/4-inch-thick
  • Scissors
  • 12 adhesive snaps

Instructions

    • 1

Place the foam on the card table, and cut along the edges of the foam with scissors until the foam matches the size of the tabletop. The edge can be ragged; no one will see it because it will be hidden under the tablecloth. The foam helps prevent the tablecloth from sliding.

    • 2

Place the tablecloth over the foam on the table. Make sure that the tablecloth is even and is large enough to cover the table with 6 inches left over on each side,.

    • 3

Fold the flap of the tablecloth under at one corner of the table until the point of the flap is touching the corner of the table. Adhere one-half of a snap on the inside of the tablecloth at the corner of the table and adhere the match to the snap on the point of the corner of the tablecloth. This snap will keep the corner folded up so the tablecloth folds neatly around the table leg. Repeat with the other three corners.

Fold the two sides of the tablecloth that flank each table leg under the table. Place one-half of a snap on each side so the edges of the tablecloth will snap just behind the leg of the table. Repeat with the other three legs. Securing the tablecloth behind the legs of the table will prevent the tablecloth from sliding off if someone brushes by the table.
