Hanging a Sliding Canvas

A sliding canvas is a canvas painting that is essentially unframed. A sliding canvas can be of any design or decor, and appears raised off the wall when mounted. Because a sliding canvas is not framed, it can be knocked off the wall easily. As a result, use a two-bracket, two-hook mounting system rather than a wire and single hook mounting system. Using a strong, dependable mounting system coupled with a stylish arrangement of prints can show off your art collection.

Instructions

    • 1

Hold the sliding canvas against the wall in the spot you want to hang it.

    • 2

Make a pencil mark on the wall just above each of the mounting brackets on the backside of the canvas. These marks will help you determine where to place the wall hooks.

    • 3

Use a level across the marks on the wall to make sure when you hang the photo that it will be level.

    • 4

Hammer the nail of the J-hooks into the wall so that the hooks line up with where the marks on the wall suggest the mounting brackets should be.

    • 5

Hang the picture by securing the mounting brackets on the J-hooks.

    • 6

Lay the level on the top of the canvas and determine if any adjustments need to be made.
