How to Decorate an Arch Window in a Nursery

An arch window, usually called an arched window, adds more light to the nursery due to its height. It can be a challenge to decorate, especially if there isn't enough clearance at the top of the arch for most window treatments. Installing the right hardware allows you to decorate the window to suit your nursery -- and have a window treatment that retains the shape of the arch. Decorating the entire window, including the arch, with long curtains provides protection against UV radiation and helps to insulate the nursery.

Instructions

Mount a ladder and extend an adjustable arched curtain rod directly above the arch. Adjust the rod so it extends 2 inches beyond the widest part of the window on each side to assure privacy and protect the baby from direct sunlight. Mark the position with pencil. Use two 2-inch screws to hold the curtain rod brackets on each side. This rod works well, even if there's limited clearance between the top of the arch and the ceiling, because of its curved shape.

Translucent curtains, such as muslin, create a glow in the nursery.

Hang medium-weight fabric curtains that suit your nursery's color or theme to decorate the arched windows. For example, hang curtains with stars for a nature-themed nursery, or a yellow curtain for a yellow nursery. Thread the arched rod through the curtains and hold onto the curtains at the center of the rod to keep them from falling off.

Mount the ladder and insert the ends of the rod into the bracket. Adjust the curtains to hang evenly.
