How to Hang Solar Blinds on Patio Doors

A patio is a desirable feature to have as part of your home, giving you easy access to an outdoor living space. Depending on your home's directional orientation, there may be times during the day where the sun shines brightly into the room off your patio if your patio doors have large windows. Hanging solar blinds from them will block the light and help to keep the room cool during warmer months of the year.

Instructions

    • 1

Line your solar blinds up with the top edge of the window on the patio door, using the frame as a guide mark to make them level. Make a mark with a pencil along the bottom corner edges of the solar blind to mark the location for the mounting brackets.

    • 2

Line up one mounting bracket with the mark and make marks at the locations of the bracket screw holes. Repeat this on the other side of the patio door for the additional mounting bracket.

    • 3

Create a pilot hole at each screw hole mark for easy insertion, using a drill. Line one mounting bracket up with the pilot holes and use a screwdriver to secure it in place. Repeat this process for the other mounting bracket.

    • 4

Insert the solar blinds into the mounting brackets using the method instructed by your product manufacturer. Repeat the installation process on any additional patio doors where you plan to block the light.
