How to Make Drywall Display Cubes

Spare drywall scraps can be used to make cubes for storage or display of lightweight objects. The cubes are basically sections of drywall held together with L-brackets. The cubes can be made with minimal materials and customized to fit any design. They can be stacked atop one another pyramid style for additional storage and support.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure out four sections of drywall that are 12 by 12 inches. Cut them using a utility knife or saw, making sure that the cuts are even and do not have jagged edges. Arrange the four sections upright on their edges. Set them against each other in the shape of a square frame that measures 12 5/8 inches by 12 5/8 inches.

    • 2

Position two 1-inch metal L-brackets in between each pair of drywall sections. Screw a 1/2-inch drywall screw into each screw hole in the metal brackets to attach each pair of sections together and form a square frame.

Cut out a drywall section that measures 12 5/8 inches by 12 5/8 inches. Set this section on the ground and position the square drywall frame on top of it. Position two 1-inch metal L-brackets between the larger section and each board of the square frame that rests on top of it. Drill a 1/2-inch drywall screw into each bracket hole to affix the rear board to the square frame.
