How to Decorate With White Leather Sectionals

Decorating a living or family room that pleases the enitre household can prove to be a challenge. If you have a white, leather sectional in the room, you have the beginning to many different designs and styles. Though the individual pieces you choose should match your personality and design preferences, you may decorate the room based on one of several design approaches to create a cohesive, well-decorated space.

Instructions

Create a space that is primarily black and white. Paint the walls behind the sectional black. Paint the trim and other walls white. Arrange several black throw pillows on the white sectional. Select a rug that is primarily black and white, such as one that has geometric shapes or a checker board pattern. Put black end tables next to the sofa, and choose black for the other furniture items in the room. Use lamps with a black base and white shade. Add a few splashes of color in the room as well, such as a large, colorful wall hanging above the sofa, a red throw blanket draped across the sofa or a stack of books with colorful spines on the end table.

Design the room in black, white, shades of gray and off-whites. This color palette creates a cohesive space that is not as bold as all black and white. Paint the walls gray with white trim and add antique white throw pillows to the sofa. Add splashes of color throughout the space, such as a colorful area rug and a large red vase on a white bookshelf. Light brown wood furniture would like nice in this space as well.

Create a room with different textures, patterns and colors. Arrange colorful throw pillows with floral or geometric patterns across the entire front of the leather sectional. The pillows don't need to match. Add furniture, such as a wing chair, that has a striped pattern that includes white and a bold color, such as navy blue. Paint the walls a soft color, such as pale yellow or antique white, and hang a large tapestry above the sofa. Hang floor to ceiling curtains that are solid in color so the eye is drawn to the patterns and textures in the room. You may also use distressed wood furniture for your end tables, coffee table and armoire.
