Use scrap paper and a pencil to draw a basic sketch of the window decorated with the scarves and pictures. Determine how many pictures you would like to use and where you want them featured on the scarves and walls. Use the sketch to plan scarf placement also.
Hang the scarves first to avoid disguising pictures already hung on the wall. Use push pins to hang scarves as desired. For example, scarves can be gathered and angled at the window's top corners or hung across the window, or both. Another option is to attach gathered scarves to the window frame for further decoration. Use scarves that are all the same hue or feature different patterns and colors.
Use straight pins to attach prints and pictures directly to scarves for a collage effect. Place a picture where desired on a scarf and push the pin through the picture and the scarf from the back to the front in a weave-like fashion. The end result should include the head and the tail of the pin on the back of the picture/scarf. Keep all pictures at least three inches away from each other to prevent a cluttered look that is too heavy. Thin paper pictures are best for this project as pins can easily be pushed through them and the scarf material. Use framed pictures to surround the window if desired or stick to draping pictures on scarves only.
