How to Decorate With Upholstered Beds

Rather than using a traditional wooden or metal frame, you can opt for an upholstered bed. Upholstered beds come in a variety of colors and styles, easily fitting into any room with a traditional or modern look. Instead of spicing up the bedroom with framed photographs or other knick-knacks, this type of bed enables you to use the bed as the focal piece.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide on a style and color. Many upholstered beds come in a platform shape that allows the sides of your mattress to show. Use of this type of frame eliminates the need for a bed skirt.

    • 2

Choose a neutral colored paint that complements the color of your upholstered bed. By choosing a neutral shade, you will not inhibit your selection of other furniture pieces or your bedspread or duvet.

    • 3

Decorate your windows with curtains that are either a few shades lighter or a few shades darker than your paint. Keep them in the same color family as your upholstered bed and the paint.

Select a bedspread or duvet that covers the sides of the mattress. If you chose a platform bed, it is a good idea to make sure you can either tuck it under the mattress or allow it to graze the top of the platform. Opting for a colorful bedspread can make the bed a focal point of the room.
