Hang cassette tapes with clear fishing line from the ceiling. String the fishing line through one of the tape’s reel, and hang them from the ceiling use ceiling hooks. Hang the cassette tapes at varying heights for a dramatic effect.
Hang framed posters of popular '80s artists and movies on the wall. For example, Michael Jackson, Cyndi Lauper, "The Goonies" and "Footloose" are a few well-known artists and movies from the '80s.
Run neon tube lights around the top or bottom trim of the room. Neon colors were a common sight in the '80s, from clothing to lipstick shades.
Assemble stacks of cassettes tapes together to make a lamp. Attach stacks of three cassettes together with zip tags. Attach this stack to two more stacks of threes. This will be one side of the lamp. Repeat the process for the remaining three sides. Use enough cassettes to cover the top, and attach the top portion last. Sit the cassette lamp over the top of a short light without a shade.
Make a record bowl by placing an oven-safe bowl upside-down on a cookie sheet, and place an old vinyl record on top of the bowl. Place the items in a 225-degree Fahrenheit preheated oven for five minutes. Remove the cookie sheet from the oven with an oven mitt, and press the softened record around the bowl. Place the oven-safe bowl on the cookie sheet right-side up and the molded record inside the bowl. Bake for another five minutes in the oven before removing it from the oven and letting the record bowl cool.
