Instructions

    • 1

Clear the surface of the countertop. Clean the surface with cleaning solution and a clean cloth.

    • 2

Measure the length, width and depth of the countertop. Take the measurements three or four times to ensure the accuracy of the measurement.

    • 3

Purchase a piece of 3- or 4-gauge stainless steel sheet metal from a home improvement store. To ensure an accurate size, ask the professionals at the home improvement store to cut the sheet metal to the size of the dimensions of your countertop.

    • 4

Use a fine metal sander to smooth the edges of the stainless steel sheet.

    • 5

Cover the surface of the existing countertop with water resistant tile grout. Use a notched trowel to spread the material over the entire surface of the countertop.

    • 6

Position the sheet of stainless steel on top of the counter. Line one of the ends of the sheet up with one of the edges of the counter. Gently lay the material over the surface of the entire counter.

    • 7

Roll a rubber roller over the surface of the sheet of stainless steel, smoothing out the material and adhering it to the tile grout.
