How to Build a Computer Nook

Choose a corner in the room to house your computer nook. A corner that is away from the main activity of the room and large enough to house the computer and its accompanying equipment is ideal.

Measure the dimensions of the area. Purchase a desk that will fit into the area and hold your computer comfortably. If your nook is in a corner, a corner desk is ideal, as it will fit snugly into the space.

Ensure that there is a power source near the nook. If there is no electrical outlet within close proximity, hire an electrician to install one near the computer nook. A power source is an essential element to a computer nook, as it is needed to operate your computer and accessories.

Install shelves on the walls above the desk. Hang straight shelves in neat vertical columns. Alternatively, to add more visual interest to the space, hang the shelves in a random configuration on the walls.

Add lighting to the space. Install one or two recessed lights or a track lighting fixture on the ceiling above the nook. For even more visual appeal, hang decorative pendant lamps above the computer nook.
