How to Hide Ceiling Heating Ducts

Exposed ceiling ducts in a home or work space are unattractive eyesores to some people. Hiding these ceiling heating ducts does not have to involve a major remodel of the space. Create a fabric ceiling around the ducts; it conceals them from view and provides a low-cost method of completing the task.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the perimeter of the ceiling on which the heating ducts are present. Double the width to create a draped effect with the fabric that conceals the ducts.

    • 2

Select a fabric type for hiding the ducts. Match it to other décor in the room, such as upholstery on the furniture or the colors of the drapery. Select a fabric that’s not sheer for adequate concealing. Cut a piece of the fabric based on your measurement numbers.

    • 3

Arrange the fabric on the floor so it’s lined up properly with the ceiling. Take one corner and attach it to the existing ceiling with a staple gun. Repeat the attaching process until all four corners are attached.

Add additional staples around the edges at the rate of every six inches to attach the fabric adequately to the ceiling.
