How to Hang a Picture Window Swag With Jabot

Often, the main attraction of the picture window is the scenery that lies outside. That’s no reason to neglect the area around your window inside. Like a frame around an actual picture, swags and jabots add visual interest and highlight what’s in the center. Jabots come in pairs, with the outer edges draping longer than the center edges. Hanging swag, drapes along the top of the picture window, is a simple process when you have jabot curtains.

Instructions

    • 1

Hang your curtain rod mounting hardware on either side of the picture window. Mark the screw hole locations and drill pilot holes for easy insertion. Screw the hardware into the wall.

    • 2

Slip the two jabot pieces over the curtain rod. Arrange them so the longer edges face outward. Place the curtain rods into the mounting brackets along the picture window. Pull the jabot pieces into their proper places along each side of the window.

Lay out the picture window swag in a straight line on the floor in front of the rod. Pick up either end and drape the sides over either end of the curtain rod for support. Arrange the swag so it falls evenly throughout the rod. This can vary based on the design of your swag curtain. Aim for a visually appealing display that conceals the curtain rod and frames the window.
