     Measure the height of one stair using a measuring tape. This is your rise.

     Measure the width of one stair (from the front of the step to the next riser, not from side-to-side) using a measuring tape. This is your run.

     Divide the rise by the run on your scientific calculator.

   • 4

     Press the INV button to get the inverse functions of the keys.

   • 5

     Press the SINE button. This gives you the degree required for your porch railing.
