How to Decorate a Dining Room Table With Apothecary Jars

"Apothecary" is a term that dates all the way back to medieval Europe, and it refers to a person who acted as a primitive pharmacist. An apothecary would prepare drugs, medicine and other potions for the health and benefit of clients and customers. Nowadays modern apothecaries sell a range of health food and cosmetic products. Apothecary jars refer to the iconic jars of various shapes and sizes that were typically found around old-fashioned apothecaries. There's no reason why you can't use them on your dining room table as unique decor.

  • 3 medium-sized apothecary jars
  • Narrow apothecary jars
  • 1 large apothecary jar
  • Small apothecary jars
  • Tea light candles

      Gather three apothecary jars of different sizes and assemble them at the center of your table. Fill each with separate, various items from nature, such as twigs, leaves, flowers, pine cones or stones.

      Position a skinny apothecary jar in the center of each place setting. Roll each knife and fork in a cloth napkin and place it in every skinny apothecary jar.

      Place a large apothecary jar at one end of the table, and fill it with punch, lemonade, sangria or any other beverage. Use a ladle to distribute the beverage to your guests.

      Place a tiny apothecary jar beside each place setting. Insert a small tea light candle inside and light it.
