Instructions

Choose a shade of teal wall paint that complements the size of your kitchen. Smaller kitchens will appear to open up with lighter shades while large kitchens can easily handle darker hues. Use a quality paint that is washable since there is a propensity for food and grease to sometimes land on your walls. Satin paint is made to withstand heavy scrubbing.

Tape off the cabinets, counters and any molding with painters tape before painting. Protect counters, appliances, the sink and floors with sheets of plastic or drop cloths.

Pick a cupboard color that doesn't clash with your countertops. Beige and brown granite countertops complement ivory-painted cabinets, whereas grey, black or white countertops can handle crisp white cabinets and drawers.

After painting the cabinets, go over them lightly with a steel wool brush to give a naturally weathered appearance. Paint the backs of open cupboards in a darker shade of teal if you used a light color on the walls, and a lighter shade if you used dark teal on the walls.

Make a couple of art pieces for your countertops, island or breakfast table. Fill a tall, clear cylinder vase with sea glass. Insert willow branches that have been coated in faux crystals into the vase.

Poke pin holes in opposite ends of a dozen eggs with a sewing needle and blow out the yoke and whites. Rinse and allow to dry. Dye the eggs in several different shades of teal. Fill a glass bowl with the eggs and include a few plain white and brown eggs to break up the color.

Natural eucalyptus blends well with teal walls.

Hang billowy sheer or lace curtains. Fashion window toppers with a swag made of eucalyptus and white baby's breath. Natural eucalyptus carries a hint of the teal color into your window treatment. Tie the branches and flowers in the middle with a natural or teal raffia bow. Hammer two nails, centered above the window, and slip the branches onto the nails.

Store dry goods in clear glass and ceramic pottery with a patina exterior glaze and terracotta finish on the inside. Vintage glass milk containers provide a complementary contrast to the abundance of teal in your kitchen.
