Visit a lumber yard and purchase eight boards measuring 2 feet-by 9-inches and 1 inch thick. Stain the wood, front and back, applying the stain with a foam brush.
Allow the stain to penetrate for 20 minutes, then wipe off the access with a lint-free rag. Repeat the process a second time. Allow the stain to dry for four hours and then apply a light coat of polyurethane with a 3-inch nylon brush to the top, bottom, front and back of each piece of wood. Allow it to dry overnight.
Place one piece of wood flat on the floor in the area where you'd like to build your bookshelf. Insert the silicone caulking glue tube into a caulking gun.
Turn over a glass bottle and apply a thin circle of glue to the bottom. Place the bottle firmly on the back, right corner of the wood, 1 inch from the back edge and 2 inches from the far right edge. Repeat this process with two more bottles, spacing them in front of this first bottle, with 1/2 inch between them. Once you've glued down these three bottles, repeat then entire process on the left side.
Line the mouths of each bottle with a thin layer of glue from your caulking gun. Place another piece of wood on top of these bottles to build your next layer. Add bottles to this next layer in the manner outlined in Step 4. Continue building your bookcase in this fashion until you place your final piece of wood at the top. Allow the glue to set for 24 hours before using the bookcase.
