How to Drape a Bed With Crown Canopy Sheers

A canopy bed instantly transforms your bedroom into a more romantic space that exudes a sense of magic and grace. If you'd like to add this effect to your room, you can go out and purchase a canopy style bed. However, a much cheaper and faster option is to install a crown canopy over your bed. A crown canopy

refers to a long panel of fabric which cascades down from a valanced top section which is in a circular or crown shape.

Instructions

    • 1

Examine the metal or wood crown canopy piece and assess how it attaches to the wall or ceiling. Some canopies attach to the ceiling above the bed with a hook; others attach to the wall behind the head of the bed with brackets and screws.

    • 2

Mark the appropriate spot for the metal crown part of the canopy with a piece of chalk. If you're hanging it on the ceiling above the bed, install a self-adhesive or screw-in hook and hang it above the middle of the bed, 6 to 8 inches from the back wall. If you're hanging it from the wall behind the bed, screw the brackets of the crown 3 to 4 feet above the bed in the exact center, using a hand drill.

    • 3

Drape at least 72 inches of sheer, gauzy fabric directly around the crown of the canopy, winding the fabric in and out from around the circular crown.

Adjust the fabric so the right and left ends of the fabric are of equal length. Drape the right end of the fabric around the right bed post. Do the same with the left end of the fabric.
