How to Hang Tulle Over the Back of a Daybed

Tulle refers to the gauzy, diaphanous fabric which makes up the tutus of ballerinas. While tulle is a fabric that doesn't offer much privacy or protection, it does give a room a romantic, elegant feel. For example, if you have a daybed, there's no reason you can use tulle as material to drape around the daybed, thus adorning it more. Hanging tulle over the back of a daybed draws attention to the middle of the bed and creates a greater sense of balance.

Instructions

    • 1

Hang a tension rod over the back panel of your day bed. The tension rod should be 4 to 6 inches down from the ceiling and parallel to the back panel of your day bed.

    • 2

Measure the length from the tension rod to the top of the back panel of your day bed. Cut pieces of tulle that are 4 to 6 inches wide and twice the length of the measurement you just took. You'll need at least 20 to 30 strips.

    • 3

Fold each strip of tulle in half. Place the folded strip behind the tension rod, with the crease slightly higher than the rod. This will create a makeshift loop. Pull the ends of the tulle through this loop. This will attach the tulle to the rod in an adjustable knot. Continue in this fashion with all your strips of tulle.

Adjust all your strips of tulle so that they're all lined up and bunched close together, creating a graceful fringe hanging over the back of the day bed.
