Instructions

  1. Textured Paint

    • 1

Prime the wall with a coat of oil-based primer. Give it three to four hours to dry.

    • 2

Apply a coat of oil-based paint in the color of your choice with a paint roller, and give the paint 24 hours to dry. Apply a second coat of paint, giving it the same amount of drying time.

    • 3

Dip a 3-inch brush into a tinted glaze, and cover a small portion of the wall. Bunch up a rag, and press it into the glaze, removing some of the color.

    • 4

Repeat this process until you cover the entire wall. Always bunch your rag to press a clean portion of it onto the glaze. This unique ragging texture is great at hiding stains, dents and cracks.

    Plants

    • 5

Install sturdy, screw-in, 2-inch-wide hooks into the ceiling space adjacent to the wall with the problems you want to hide. Space the hooks 6 inches from the wall and 8 inches from each other. Use as many hooks as you need to camouflage the wall problems.

    • 6

Attach hanging plants to the hooks, adjusting their heights so the plants hang at different lengths to cover the wall problems.

    • 7

Use tiered plant stands and nesting plants stands, as many as you need, to hide the wall problems. Place bushy plants on the stands, and space them to cover the bad parts of the wall.

    Prints and Screens

    • 8

Frame large prints and posters that complement your decor.

    • 9

Hang the framed artwork, prints, or photographs on the problem wall. Experiment with the placement until you find an arrangement you like. Fill the wall space with pictures of all shapes and sizes.

    • 10

Place a decorative screen in front of large wall problems like stains or cracks.
