Do-It-Yourself Stained Wood Corbel

A corbel refers to an architectural structure extending out of a wall to support a higher weight such as a closed bracket or block, according to Old House Interiors. Traditionally corbels were stone and found primarily on the outside of buildings on classical and medieval architecture. Nowadays corbels, particularly decorative ones, consist of wood and are used around the home--for trimming windows and doorways and under and above cabinets. If you've purchase unfinished wooden corbels, staining them can help them add warmth and color to a room.
