How to Build a Romantic Bed Canopy Headboard

You don't need a professional interior decorator to revamp your entire room with a lot of new stuff and a steep price tag to dramatically change the look of your room. A canopy is a powerful decorating tool; because the fabric has such a dramatic presence in your room, it can instantly make your space look more romantic, as if out of a fairy tale or storybook castle. Because a canopy is so robust, it eliminates your need for a traditional headboard, acting as a headboard in its own right.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the width of your bed and find the center. Mark the center mark on the wall above your bed with a piece of chalk.

    • 2

Mark the corresponding point on the ceiling with a piece of chalk, 8 inches out from the wall. Install a 1-inch screw in hook into this mark.

    • 3

Purchase 6 yards mosquito netting. Fold it in half. Tie a loose knot just beneath the crease you just made.

    • 4

Cut a 24-inch piece of fishing line with a pair of scissors. Thread it through the loop at the top of your loose knot. Knot the fishing line 6 inches above the fabric. Tie the remaining pieces of fishing line around your hook in two double knots.

Arrange the sides of the mosquito netting canopy around the head and sides of your bed. If necessary, insert a clear push pin here and there, attaching it to the rails of your bed to hold it in place.
