How to Hang Hooks for a Bike in Your Bedroom

A bicycle allows you to travel without carbon emissions, saves you money and is good for your heart and waistline. Perhaps the only burden that comes with owning a bicycle is the need to keep it safe from theft and store it in an area where you're not constantly tripping over it. A bike hook comes in handy, as it allows you to store it off your floor, yet off the street. With a bike hook, you can even store a bike in your bedroom.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a stepstool underneath the area of the ceiling where you want to hang your bike, choosing a place that's generally away from the rest of your furniture in the bedroom. This area should at least be 8 inches out from the wall, to reduce scuffing.

    • 2

Run a studfinder along the ceiling in this designated area. Mark the locations of the studs. Select the location for your bike that keeps it out of the direct flow of traffic in your room. Circle it with chalk.

    • 3

Drill a 1/4-inch-deep pilot hole in this area. Screw in your bicycle hook directly into this hole. Twist the hook with pliers if screwing it in by hand becomes too difficult.
