Replace your dividers, plastic shelves and other company-issued organizational tools with brightly colored alternatives. Your dividers can be various colors, each of which has a meaning in your system. Use different colored plastic shelves for various levels of urgency.
Add personal touches to your desk. A rotating digital photo of your family and pets will make your desk more attractive, as will a small collection of memorabilia, such as concert tickets pinned to your wall or a few trinkets from a trip.
Find a decorative pencil holder, which can be an old vase or decorative coffee mug. You can use anything that will hold your writing utensils to add color and beauty to your desk.
Add colorful flowers to the corner of your desk, as they will serve as a beautiful conversation starter. You may wish to use synthetic flowers if you are concerned about allergic reactions at the office.
Place a decorative bowl on your desk. Fill it with candy, pretzel sticks or other inexpensive snacks. This will draw people to your desk that you might otherwise never see, which may help you network as well as make your desk appear more attractive.
