How to Decorate by Putting Couches Against Walls

Place the couches opposite and facing each other against walls at either end of the room if you'd like to create two separate zones in your home, such as a zone for entertainment and a zone for reading quietly. Alternatively, place the two couches side by side against walls. creating an L-shape, if you entertain guests a lot. Your couches can consist of different materials but should be the same color. This will unify the different spaces.

Place an accent table on either side of each couch in a contrasting color. The accents tables can be of different materials and shapes, but should all be the same style and general shade to give a unified look.

Hang a large mirror above each couch in a third color. The mirrors will enhance the sense of light and space in the room, and the third color will give a more dynamic look to the decorating scheme.

Hang a small, framed print of art or a photography on either side of each mirror in a color that matches the shade of the accent tables. This will nicely border the mirrors and allow you to display pleasant imagery, such as family pictures, vintage movie posters or other artwork in your home. The color of the frames will also allow you to bring all the colors of the room together.

Place a throw rug in front of each couch in any hue of your decor scheme that you like. This will make the space in front of the couches more inviting and plush.

Position unobtrusive lights around the room, such as standing lamps beside the couches or table lamps on the accent tables. Your goal is to create understated illumination.
