How to Decorate a Glass Porch

A glass porch can take on several configurations: It can be one surrounded by glass walls or continuous sliding doors, a sunroom or three-season porch. Such a space truly is a gift for your home; it allows you to enjoy the beauty of nature without having to deal with things such as troublesome mosquitoes, chilly winds or a glaring sun. Decorating such a space is fun; take advantage of this special room as much as possible.

Instructions

    • 1

Walk around the porch or sunroom to determine which direction offers the view you like best. Select a couch in a shade that either contrasts or matches the natural landscape surrounding you, depending on whether you want your porch to seem like an extension of the landscape or in stark contrast to it.

    • 2

Angle the couch so it faces this ideal direction. Bring in two armchairs, one in a shade that is complementary to the couch and another in a shade that matches the couch but has patterned fabric. Arrange the chairs so that they're angled around the couch to encourage socializing but still have a good view of the surrounding nature.

    • 3

Place accent tables in between the couch and chairs or one large coffee table in the center.

    • 4

Place a high-backed armchair in any color you like in a separate corner with an accent table and small lamp. This provides a quiet reading corner for any members of the household who don't feel like being social but still want to enjoy being outside.

    • 5

Install wall sconces on the vertical support beams of the glass porch. They provide low lighting in the evening that is not obtrusive.
