Peruse through a book of color swatches or decor styles. Select two colors for your color scheme. They should be cool colors like shades of blue, green or purple to better contrast the red of the brick.
Arrange dominant pieces of furniture in the two colors of your color scheme against or directly in front of your brick wall. For example, a blue upholstered couch and a green leather armchair are all appropriate choices.
Place brick red accent furniture beside or on top of your dominant pieces. For example, a cherry wood table, brick red throw pillows or throw rugs will help pull the look together.
Hang one or two pieces of wall art on the brick wall to further accentuate it. Use mortar anchors and a hand-held drill with a masonry bit. Drill into the cement between the bricks, creating a pilot hole before installing a mortar anchor. Hang pieces that will complement your decor style. For example, if your look is very traditional, hanging a gilded framed mirror against the brick wall will further emphasize your style.
Install window treatments in a material with a sleek texture such as chiffon, silk or satin, which will contrast with the rough texture of the bricks. Choose a color that contrasts with the brick wall and blends into your color scheme, as well.
Place decorative accessories such as statues, figurines or lamps on tabletops, in corners and elsewhere around the room. Select items with a glossy sleekness to contrast the texture of the brick wall. Materials like polished wood, chrome and even plastic will contrast with the brick design well.
