How to Decorate Zebra Print Chairs

One surefire way to add a greater sense of dynamism to a room is to use animal print fabric and upholstered furniture. Animal print items give a room a degree of exoticism and slight wildness as if you're on safari in the jungle. While you can choose from a range of animal prints, such as cheetah and leopard print to snakeskin, zebra print truly can make an extremely eye-catching impression because it is composed of such intense and opposite colors, black and white. Decorating zebra print chairs is key to emphasizing those colors.

Instructions

    • 1

Place each chair in an area of the room that has no other patterned fixtures or furniture pieces. Other patterned pieces will decrease the zebra chairs' impact, making that section of the room just look busy.

    • 2

Sand each chair's wood frame with a 100-grit sanding block. Wipe down the wood with a tack cloth.

    • 3

Cover the upholstered areas of every chair with a drop cloth and painter's tape. Dip a 1-inch nylon-bristled paintbrush in gold acrylic paint. Paint the wood areas of each chair in the gold paint. Allow them to dry overnight, and apply a second coat, also giving the wood 12 hours to dry. Dip a paintbrush in clear polyurethane finish, and cover the painted wood with the protective finish. Allow it to dry for 24 hours.

Place a throw pillow in a bright electric solid color, such as lime green, cherry, electric blue or hot pink, on each chair. Do not use a patterned pillow because it will distract from and decrease the zebra print's impact.
