Rock & Roll Decorating

If you were born to rock, let the world know with your rock and roll decorating. Whether it is a tween or teen bedroom, playroom, basement or man cave, find a rock and roll style to fit your space. Decorate the space to look like a famous concert of your favorite band or pay homage to the electric guitar by creating a space even Jimi Hendrix would have loved. No matter who your favorite band is, there is a way to incorporate it into a rocking room.
  1. Music Posters

    • Posters of your favorite artists and bands can be framed and hung on the walls of your room. If your favorite musician is a classic rocker, look for a vintage concert poster at online art shops. Frame the posters in a simple black frame for a sleek look. A fitting look for more modern rockers and bands is a decorated frame. Glue blank CDs to a plain wooden frame or stamp skull and crossbones on a wide black frame for a little drama.

    Musical Instruments

    • Store your guitar on the wall or on a stand in your rock and roll room. Place brackets on your walls to hold the guitars. Make bedside or end tables out of a drum and a piece of glass. A guitar amp can also serve as a table base. Create a piece of art by gluing drumsticks in an interesting design. Use a cymbal as a lamp base. If you aren't a musician, you can find old instruments at garage sales and antique stores.

    Band T-shirts

    • Make a blanket or a throw out of old band t-shirts. Take each shirt and cut out a 12-inch square of the front and/or back of the shirt. Sew the shirt squares together to create a collage. Sew the collage to a plain piece of jersey knit fabric with a layer of quilt batting in between. Frame t-shirts in square frames and use as artwork. Cut the shirt up the sides from the hem to the neck. Cut the front design out to fit the frame. Frame the back of the shirt as well. Hang the frames side by side.

    CDs and LPs

    • Use CDs, LP records and cases to decorate. Blank CDs can be strung on nylon thread and hung from the ceiling to create a modern mobile. String CDs together with nylon thread to create a flashy curtain for the windows. Hang LP records on the wall in an interesting pattern for a wall mural. Frame classic rock and roll LP sleeves and hang on the wall or the back of the door.
